TWELFTH EDITION OF GLOBAL MONEY WEEK ENDS

This month, the Banco de Moçambique carried out several activities and events nationwide in light of the 12th edition of the Global Money Week themed “Protect your money, secure your future”, which was celebrated worldwide between March 18 and 24.

This year's main event took place last Friday (24) in Chimoio city. The Provincial Directorate of Education and about 150 students and 11 teachers from the 7 de Abril, Tembwe and Vila Nova secondary schools participated in the event's educational activities and games, namely debates, lectures, quizzes, and staging of a theatrical play. Following the activities, the winning groups were awarded various school supply kits.

On the occasion, a fair was held for the credit and mobile money institutions operating in Chimoio city to promote and showcase financial products and services to children and young people.

In her opening speech at the event, the Director of the Chimoio Branch, Aurora Bila, said that the campaign aims to raise the awareness of people, particularly the youth, to the importance of safe money management and taking responsible and informed financial decisions, always considering the potential risks present in the financial system.

Moving forward, Aurora Bila highlighted the importance of being aware of financial risks and the need for protecting personal data, so as to prevent fraud when using digital platforms, ATM and POS in financial transactions.

In addition to Chimoio city, similar events were held throughout the country, coordinated by other branches of the Banco de Moçambique.
