The Government and 8 donors signed an agreement regarding the Joint Macrofinancial Aid Program, consisting of a direct financial support mechanism to the State Budget, making foreign aid funds available through a common foreign account held by the Banco de Moçambique. The central bank channels the exchange value to the Treasury.

Ernesto Gouveia Gove is appointed Governor of the Banco de Moçambique by Presidential Decree No. 28/2006.
At the end of the 2014 financial, the Governor of the Banco de Moçambique, announced the celebrations of the 40-year anniversary of the BM and the 35-year anniversary of the national currency, the Metical, in Maputo. The Governor added that “such celebrations would include cultural, sports, and scientific and historic events, among others.”
