BANCO DE MOÇAMBIQUE CELEBRATES GLOBAL MONEY WEEK

This month, the Banco de Moçambique held several activities and events nationwide in order to celebrate the Global Money Week, a worldwide event celebrated between March 20 to 26, every year.  This year, the celebrations followed the motto: Learn. Save. Earn..

In Mozambique, the main event was held in Inhambane city, on March 24, at the Emília Daússe Secondary School. They were held in concert with the Inhambane Provincial Directorate of Education, and attended by the 3 de Fevereiro and Muelé secondary schools.

While speaking on behalf of the Inhambane Branch Director, the Assistant Director of the Financial Education Division of the Conduct Supervision Department, Jaime Manjate, told attendees that the Banco de Moçambique has been celebrating the Global Money Week since 26, by holding nationwide awareness-raising actions for children and young people about the importance of financial education in promoting financial wellbeing.

Moving forward, Jaime Manjate noted that 2023's theme “Plan Your Money, Plant Your Future.” was defined in order to teach children and young people about the implications of their current financial behavior to the environment and society.

This event included lectures held throughout the week and painting, writing and quiz contests on financial education matters, which equipped the students involved with information, understanding of money and the benefits of saving.

The branches of the Banco de Moçambique nationwide carried out Global Money Week commemorative activities, similarly to the main events, alongside education sector authorities, students, teachers, and local financial institutions.
