GOVERNOR OF BANCO DE MOÇAMBIQUE GIVES OPENING ADDRESS AT THE THIRD PROTECTION AND SECURITY SEMINAR

This Tuesday morning (12), the Governor of the Banco de Moçambique gave the opening address at the Third Annual Protection and Security Seminar at the Chimoio branch, set to run until Thursday.

In his speech, Rogério Zandamela stated that the meeting should provide for a dedicated space to exchange knowledge and experience on relevant protection and security themes, a key area, particularly for the central bank, given its responsibility for protecting the integrity of information, people, assets and heritage.

Moreover, the Governor highlighted the developments in the organizational structure of the Protection and Security Department, so as to make it more tailored to the challenges of today. In this regard, he pointed out the introduction of a specific protection and security career, coupled with the process of staff reintegration, so as to recognize, enhance and foster the development of professional careers of the department's staff.

Rogério Zandamela expressed his hope that the discussion meets the protection and security bottlenecks in light of the three-year strategic plan for 2024–2026, which mainly involves modernizing the workflows of several components in this field.

Prior to wrapping up, the Governor stressed that security is ultimately the responsibility of all bank managers and staff members, given that threats and risks go beyond physical borders and geographical limits, and therefore require a collective and coordinated response.

In turn, the Advisor to the Governor and the Director of the Protection and Security Department, Graça Chongo, said to have found the event strategic and important, while expressing appreciation to Governor Zandamela for accepting the invitation to give the opening address, despite his ever-busy schedule.

The Director of the Chimoio Branch, Aurora Bila, expressed her appreciation for Chimoio being chosen to host the seminar, and wished the participants good work and a pleasant stay.

In attendance at the event, themed “Towards a Security Increasingly Tailored to the Challenges posed by New Social, Economic and Technological Dynamics”, were 37 employees, including managers and staff members from protection and security from the headquarters and branches, specializing in various fields.
