BANCO DE MOÇAMBIQUE HOSTS SADC CENTRAL BANKS SPORTS GAMES

On April 18 and 19, the Banco de Moçambique hosted the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Central Banks Sports Games at its Sports Complex in Matutuíne. This event has become a longstanding tradition within the region.

While giving his opening address, Governor Rogério Zandamela highlighted the importance of the event, stressing that it takes place in a particularly special year, in which the central bank celebrates its 50th anniversary and 45 years of the Metical.

In his remarks, Governor Zandamela expressed his strong belief that the SADC Interbank Games will continue to foster bonds of fraternity and friendship, while promoting the exchange of experiences in sports, culture, and professional development among participants.

Further down his speech, the Governor underscored the fellowship that unites the participants and the importance of sportsmanship: “I would like to ask all players to abide by fair play principles during the games, while nurturing a winning spirit and allowing the magic of sports and our cultural heritage to bring moments of joy and harmony to our hearts,” said Rogério Zandamela.
