BANCO DE MOÇAMBIQUE HOSTS FINE ARTS EXHIBITION “ECHOES OF TIME”

The Banco de Moçambique is hosting, from today, May 8, through December 31 of this year, a temporary fine arts exhibition titled “Echoes of Time.” The initiative forms part of the celebrations marking the Bank’s 50th anniversary and the 45th anniversary of the Metical as the national currency. According to Governor Rogério Zandamela, the event reaffirms the institution’s commitment to preserving and promoting Mozambican art and culture, while also linking its legacy to the country’s cultural identity.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Education and Culture, the Secretary of State for Arts and Culture, Matilde Muocha, officially inaugurated the exhibition. Her remarks highlighted the importance of the initiative in uplifting the nation’s collective identity and history, and praised the Bank’s role in safeguarding Mozambique’s artistic and cultural heritage.
The exhibition showcases a selection of 20 works by renowned artists such as Malangatana, Bertina Lopes, and Reinata Sadimba, across various mediums, including painting, sculpture, and ceramics. The curation was led by Bank staff members Felisberto Thlemo and Leonardo João.
