Licensing of Institutions
Rationale
In light of Article 16 of the Law on Credit Institutions and Financial Companies (Law No. 20/2020, of December 31), the incorporation of credit institutions and financial companies is subject to the authorization by the Governor of the Banco de Moçambique, and shall be granted on a case-by-case basis. The Regulation and Licensing Department of the Banco de Moçambique is the organizational unit responsible for receiving and issuing opinions regarding licensing applications for credit institutions and financial companies and other microfinance institutions.
